Last essay

JD Leonard
1/22/08

This course has been very effective and significant on my meaning of life as well as my work habits. I have improved a lot since the beginning of the year in a few areas. These include verbal communication, posting all of my thoughts digitally through my blogger, and interpreting every topic in a different way. This course has helped to better me in a few fields and has truly changed my Meaning Of Life. My work habits have improved, my brain now comprehends more, and I am able to accept other people’s ideas and compare them to mine.
The way I express my self through my essays and writing has really changed for the better! My original style of writing was very confused and not very clear. This is a blurb from my initial thoughts to the Meaning Of Life. “There are a few things that make life meaningful for me:
- Happiness is a very meaningful thing for me, because when you’re not happy you’re upset, and that’s not fun.
- Helping others to achieve is a really nice thing and helps what people call the soul.”
This is my initial answer to the Meaning Of Life, and as you can see my answer doesn’t even really get to what I am truly thinking. It is not like I ‘half-assed’ it, but I could have and should have gone more in depth of what I really think of the sub topics. Working a lot on essays in the Meaning Of Life class has really influenced my communication through writing. In my Final Thoughts Essay on the Meaning Of Life it is easy to see my progress on improving my writing. “I love the idea of art expressing the meaning of life, ESPECIALLY music. I think music makes the world go round and when I hear certain songs, they make me feel different moods, or make me think of something, and I think that that in its self means something. I think music is a great way to show the meaning of life and express ideas, thoughts, feelings, beliefs and all that stuff.” From this we can tell that I have improved in getting deeper to the core of what I am trying to say. I do like this a lot, since some times it is hard for me to express my ideas through a computer, let alone on paper. I have learned and improved on getting a true emotion in to my paper.
Another thing that this class has helped me to understand in life is that every one has a different opinion, and if it’s similar it’s still modified. I now understand people’s perspectives and how they have come to them. This is according to Andy the ‘thoughtfulness of orientation to life.’ I think for any topic, philosophy, art, and religion, this is a great trait that helps with them. I used to not be able to understand the points of others just because I have been so focused on mine, but now, it is much easier for me to open my mind and understand how these choices and opinions affect people. In my original Meaning Of Life paper, I was completely thoughtless to other people’s ideas, “When this question is asked, millions of things come to mind, or at least to my mind. I had made a list of a few things, consisting of happiness, prosperity, love, acceptance, and health.” Now, because of this course, artists, philosophers and even my peers can influence me. “People cam in to tell us that being kind to others is the meaning of life, and I believe that and can see how people would interpret that as some thing close to the meaning of life. Going to the rabbi in the temple and the church with the priest had showed me how the meaning of life is shown through religion and how the religion affects the meaning of life and life in general.” I now take other people’s opinions of the Meaning Of Life and use them to mold my own hypothesis.
In my first opinions on the Meaning Of Life, it is obvious to see I did not really consider much meaningful and did not take time to explain my opinions. I rushed it and was not able to express all that I should have thought about. “Happiness is a very meaningful thing for me, because when you’re not happy you’re upset, and that’s not fun.” – WHAT?! Was I thinking? That doesn’t entail anything of what I was thinking. But hey!, look at me now- “And If you are not happy, look for a way of how to make your self happier, don’t look for the meaning, just the product.
I think if you can enjoy life for the most part and just have it all set up, then you do not need to question it.” –There is a real thought out answer and a good one at that. I took time, which was showed to me through out the course of the year, to reconsider my ideas and because of this, my ideas are stronger, I am able to argue my ideas and I feel more confident about my perspectives.

OH MAN IM DONE, MY MEANING OF LIFE

How has your own perspective on meaning of life changed since your initial essay?
Boy oh boy has it changed. I have learned so much and changed so many times! Learning a new perspective, meaning or anything having to do with the meaning of life has changed MY ideas so many times over and over. I had originally said this- “Health is so important to life, it means a lot! With out it, life is not fun and not so meaningful anymore.” I think that is true, but is it actually meaningful, especially to the question of what is the meaning of life? Since looking in to the meaning of the question what is the meaning of life, I have interpreted a question by finding the meaning of that question and not the answer. How can you find an answer to a question if you don’t even understand it? What about finding the meaning to life if you are not able to find the meanging of the question itself? After all that we have learned and all that I changed in my meaning of life, I still don’t think that it has actually changed, only been modified from the original. If that makes sense?!. We have heard many different answers to this question by many different people, but it is what we heard that determines if we wanted to change our views.
I think the meaning of life is still to be silly and happy and really enjoy every thing that you can possibly. People cam in to tell us that being kind to others is the meaning of life, and I believe that and can see how people would interpret that as some thing close to the meaning of life. Going to the rabbi in the temple and the church with the priest had showed me how the meaning of life is shown through religion and how the religion affects the meaning of life and life in general.
Praying to an over lord can be a little much to think about times, but I still again understand how some people could interpret life to be about finding happiness in some one else’ life. I like the idea of how some people believe the idea of how the people or things or even beings that they pray to pray on to some one or some thing else.
I still think there is a G-d and I believe that He is there up above the clouds watching over all and helping where He believes necessary.
I have adapted to the idea of life in to death from the course since it is brought up so damn much. The meaning of life for a lot of people is to be born and live your life and then one day die and be buried. I also think when people die they go above all of us and watch over all of us and take care of us when we don’t even know it. I think when people say they see ghosts or aliens it is just the dead trying to communicate with us and tell them they are ok and happy and to take care of them self.
I find life to be exhilarating, exciting, fun, enjoyable, stressful, funny, and all of the above. “It is what you strive for to stay alive that makes you want to know and continue living out your meaning of life” I find this very true and quite meaningful. Why find the meaning of life when maybe the meaning of life is to find the meaning of life. So if you do find it ouot, what happens, do you die? Maybe that’s why people die, because they find out the meaning of life and G-d must take them back, and when they share it, that person is not going to live much longer. How much would that suck? Better watch out An man.
The philos view did not do too much for me, except that Taoism tells me to relax and enjoy what I have. I like that. Going with the flow is a lot easier than running around and stressing to find some thing to do. i would have used a pencil…but that’s just not permanent. I like how Pooh just tells you to be Pooh and just flow like a mirror like river.
I love the idea of art expressing the meaning of life, ESPECIALLY music. I think music makes the world go round and when I hear certain songs, they make me feel different moods, or makes me think of something, and I think that that in its self means something. I think music is a great way to show the meaning of life and express ideas, thoughts, feelings, beliefs and all that stuff. I hear songs that make me think about the love of my life and then I hear songs that make me depressed and just feeling terrible for no reason.
I think when you can find some thing you enjoy doing, you do it. When you find some one you can enjoy and love, you share that happiness with them. And when you finally enjoy your life for a while, you have kids and you teach them new things, all the things, you teach them how to find happiness and let them go out in to the world and experience through their own eyes. Then the cycle can continue. Of course there are glitches, but for the most part, I think life should just be what it is, don’t be silly looking for the meaning of life, just like it and love it for what it is. And If you are not happy, look for a way of how to make your self happier, don’t look for the meaning, just the product.
I think if you can enjoy life for the most part and just have it all set up, then you do not need to question it. THANK YOU

Philo's meaning FINAL

‘Awwww, young grass hopper, you come to me in search of some thing. What is it my son?’ ‘ I came to you for you to answer me this!- what is the MEANING OF LIFE? AND what philosophy can you answer it with?’
Every one has one or more, or even more than that, different perspectives on the meaning of life. It depends on how you were raised, who raised you and who taught you. I think philosophy is an excellent way of explaining and expressing a thought on the meaning of life or even just the meaning of life period.
There have been many meanings and interpretations of the philosopher, or the philo’s thoughts. I think a philo is defined by some one who says stuff about the meaning of life and gets quoted saying it. Some one who can get away with answering something by avoiding the topic and still go back and make sense. Some well known philos are Sophicles, Socrates (so – cray -tss), and some other old guys that Bill and Ted pick up on their way to the past. Besides that, philosophy is a great way of looking at the meaning of life.
One of the really well known philos is Toaism. “Tao can be roughly stated to be the flow of the universe, or the force behind the natural order. Tao is believed to be the influence that keeps the universe balanced and ordered. Tao is associated with nature, due to a belief that nature demonstrates the Tao. Tao is also associated with a "proper" attitude, morality and lifestyle. This is intimately tied to the complex concept of Te, or literally "virtue". Te is the active expression of Tao. Taoism generally expresses this as "integrity" or "wholeness". Tao is considered a "way", while Te is the active living, or cultivation, of that "way"” (wikipedia) the thing I like most about Tao is that its very laid back. It is almost like accepting of the world, only if college was like that!?
The Tao enjoys the world for what it is and people that believe in it just wait for the world to come to them. This could be good for some but bad for others. Whether it’s a person who wants to experience the world for them self and truly get out or it’s a person who just wants to wait and see if the world will be them. Toaism is more for the people who are relaxed and not worried about life really meaning so much. Life for them just means what it means. And they go with that. The flow is the majority of thought that I read about. We read most of “The Tao of Pooh” a book about the greatest Taoist masters, Winnie the Pooh. Winnie is a very relaxed, reflective and intellectual little bear. “Just like Pooh. ‘Ahem. I say, ‘just like Pooh”. (p. 85) I feel like Pooh is just Pooh as every one that believes in Tao should be. The flow is what ever is given. Pooh in this book is just Pooh and happy about it. You go Pooh! “That’s how it is when you use the Pooh way. Nothing to it. No stress, no mess.” How great is that? The Pooh way. Don’t you just want to live like Pooh, relaxed about every thing and not caring about much.
What flows like water, reflects like a mirror, and responds like an echo.” The Tao oh Pooh shows a lot of perspectives for the bear and really shows the philo’s Point Of View and blends them together. I find it a lot easier to learn something when some one can give a life experience or some thing I can connect to and understand the meaning or topic better.

Then, there is this thought about how everyone can be their own tutor on the meaning of life.“When it comes to the meaning of life everyone is there own philosopher. They decide if there is a meaning of life for them or if there isn’t. Some people think that the meaning of life is a non-existing thing and people are wasting there time thinking of meaning of life. Others believe that there is a meaning of life and its how you approach life that you will come in contact with that meaning. I believe that there is a meaning of life but that it depends on how you approach it. The life that you live will effect how you find your meaning of life and what it is. Some people believe that the meaning comes from the experiences that you have been through and what is next to be completed in your own life. While other live their life as the years go by. What if every single day of a person’s life has a meaning of life? What if every day a person lives and names the best or worse part of their day as the meaning and that determines the path that a person goes down. What if that path determines the full thought of the meaning of a person’s life in as a whole?”- Elliots blog. I really like the line that I bolded, but I question, do you have to find the meaning of life to live a meaning of life? Huh it sounds like im becoming a philo of my own. Imagine?!
Philosophers are famous because of what they have said and hardly because of what they did. I find this ironic (more coincidental) that these people come up with meanings of life but they are some old guys who sit at home and think. What does that tell you? I find it confusing and contradictory. But its ok. I do like the idea Elliot brought up though how he says every one can be a philosopher, and even saying that resembles one in him.

OPP on MOL DRAFT (Final draft) IM DONE OK?

You know? When asked the meaning of life, a lot of people jump immediately to say "I do not know" or something like a joke. People dodge the question, and it seems a lot of people havent really thought about it. Possibly subconsciously they have, but not that they would just answer off the top of their heads. They are afraid! People do not want to answer because they do not know and a lot of people would like to keep it that way. So, to further my understanding of other people's persepctives on the MEANING OF LIFE, I interviewed a few people. Those can be seen under this post.
My brother, obviously joking at first, ("He starts off with "Beats me!" and then I look at him and he said to procreate and advance the human species. Living the way we're "supposed" to. He has a very pessimistic way of looking at it. He doesnt like to think that we have no control and no say towards who we are.") Im sure has thought about it before. Everyone has at one point, but the truth is, no one really knows. I was happy Manny had concluded with the saying "its different for everyone." It really is!
A lot of people like to think that the meaning of life has a lot to do with happiness, or something as silly as that. People like my brother, who are overly pessimistic about life in general have a better idea of what they think it is. But does that mean that they feel better than those who do not know? Is it better to stay kept in the dark, should you question?, or should you just not care?
Jennifer is a very happy self satisfying person who ALSO loves to bring everyone else into her fun. She enjoys life, its pretty obvious, and because she knows not so much off the top of her head, but still has an idea really says something.
In school, we had given out an interview and when asked "if you were to die right now would you be satisfied with the life you’ve lived?", most of the population of school said NO. Which is interesting to me because all of these kids laugh at the question, "what is the MEANING OF LIFE?". A lot of people take for granted what they do not know. When they finally do take these things in to consideration, that is when a lot of people have enlightenments.
While I skimmed over other peoples blogs, I found this:"Less seniors said that they cared about finding happiness as opposed to other grades." and that really just hit me square in the head. I was just stunned that I didnt think of it previously, that as you grow older, you believe that you are wiser and know more, but there is way too much too know! People think knowing more and being able to "judge better" makes them happier. But isnt a child, who is accepting of anyone willing happier than the man who cant make friends because he doesnt like her hair, or his smile, or my laugh, or anything. you know?

So I had to read other people’s blogs because, DUH, other people’s perspectives on the meaning of life. That’s the point of this essay, is to read in to other peoples ideas on the MEANING OF LIFE. So I read in to Ninya’s blogger and found interesting sutff and definitely exciting. “Other questions on the survey that other people analyzed included one, “what is most important in your life right now?” where the top two answers overall in all the categories was either friends/family or finding happiness. Another question was “if life has no meaning there is no point in living”, to this question most people overall in all the grades answered that they agreed with the statement. And a third question that also appeared on the survey was “what makes life worth living?” and even to this most people said they were not sure about what in their opinion makes life meaningful.” – Nina blogger account YAY. This was from part of the survey we took in school and I found these numbers to be educating and fun. A lot of people really do not know and they do not really want to know they are meaning of life yet, or even put in a thought.

I tend to always find my way back to Elliot, but of course on ninas profile, she asked him what he thought the meaning of life was, is, and what affects him. Heres his answer – “Elliot said that to him the answer was very simple; he thought that to him the meaning of life was that you were born to live a life, and you were supposed to live that life to the best of your abilities. That one sets goals for themselves and should try as hard as they can to reach those goal, keeping in mind that along the way one creates even more goals for themselves that they should try and complete as well. He also said that one should live their life according to what their “dream life” would be like, but if one’s life doesn’t turn out that way exactly it’s ok. All in all though he said that the meaning of life really varies and changes person to person.” I really like Elliots points on the menaing of life, and I think of all people, he really knows what he is talking about, and I think the best thoughts are those that are come up with at that very second and just a random blip inside.
I do not think people should have to know, or at least not yet, and ofcourse people do not know. A lot are confused and don’t know how to where to or anything. I think that’s just fine, normal and EXPECTED!
Thanks NINa and EllIOT

WTHDTQEM( final Draft) REALLY ITS DONE-AND IT HAS 1024 WORDS AN-MAN

People have questioned the actual meaning of life for years and years. Yet, no one (known to man) has quite figured out the MEANING OF LIFE. They do continue to try to interpret in completely different ways. Many have written essays, blogs, and even books concentrating on trying to understand the MEANING OF LIFE.
Irving Singer sings(not really) about the MEANING OF LIFE. What he says is along the lines of not attacking the question directly, but looking at a different angle and rephrasing the question(thus the title of the article - Meaning of Life: Rephrasing Questions) As Singer continues to dive deeper into the question of What is the "Meaning of Life?" he falls upon other questions, concerning topics from other perspectives from other places to how can it truly have one answer? He says people dodge the question as best they can and try to interpret the question differently than asked. People are afraid and they try to deny it, as well as what they think is the MEANING OF LIFE.
Joseph Ellin, another philosopher, not so similar to Irving, but still on the same page. They are both looking for an answer, or at least a way to interpret it. He says that people like to forget the idea that they do live on Earth and there are other people that live here for certain reasons. Their own. But people forget that there is a bigger picture and they are a spec compared to the big world, universe, etc.
No one can understand the want of someone else, the push they have. People live their lives they want and others can never come to fully understand it. The thing many people DO NOT UNDERSTAND, is that the people who don't know other people's MEANING OF LIFE rely on them to live for their MEANING OF LIFE. People need each other, whether they admit it or not, life revolves around everyone and without them, there is no MEANING OF LIFE for anyone. Even someone half way around the world that you will never meet, might be vital to your MEANING OF LIFE. You'll never know! Ellin enjoys the idea that no one lives by them self.
He does know that the question must be broken down into parts.Everything must have an explanation that can be in reference to the answer. It must have something to do with the purpose of us actually existing. It has to explain the reason for life and death, how they affect each other and how it affects the rest of us. and Last: The reason for why everyone relies on each other and how the world revolves around everyone!
John Wisdom, number three of the 3 philosophers writes his opinions in The Meanings of the Questions of Life. Wisdom likes to discuss contradiction within the MEANING OF LIFE. The questions just keep pouring in and are never ending and unable to be answered.
There is much we can take from each of these men and it is up to the person to find their own, even if it is a little persuasive at parts by one another. None of these men have come to a full conclusion either and are still looking for the answer or at least something close to it.
“People deciphering the difference between if the meaning of life existing and the meaning of life not existing is one big question but with in that question are smaller ones. When it comes to the question what is the meaning of life I have reason to believe that there’s is more to it then just that. When you find what the meaning of life is what will you do with it? When you find the meaning of life what will you do after that will the meaning of life at that point not exist any more? I find that there will always be something to the meaning of life. That’s why it’s called a meaning of life because after you salve for one thing you have something new to start on.” (Elliot’s Blog) I really enjoyed Elliot’s essay on the meaning of the question “what is the meaning of life mean”. I think he hit major points that were both important and necessary for answering them. I especially enjoyed this quote because he explains a lot of good points and the majority of his essay and it just really hit me that these are the questions we are looking for and this will definitely change my perspective on the meaning of life.
It is cool to see the different thoughts of other people on this question. Its really interesting to see peoples reactions when you ask them this AFTER you ask them what they think the meaning of life is. A lot of people don’t really think of thinking about the questions meaning as opposed to the answer.
Again I feel that Elliot really hits the majority of the meaning of life’s question’s meaning. Here is a another part from it. “The meaning of life is affected by who you are. If you are not who you are then can you have a meaning of life? Or will it truly be your meaning of life?”
He goes into depth of the truth of people’s meaning of life. I think hes trying to get in to how people say their “meaning of life”, yet don’t believe it or live by it, or even try to adapt it to their lives.
This makes me think about how people have meanings of life, yet they get it from some one else’s perspective. Like, they take it from the movies or their friends, which is ok, but then when you ask them about it the next day, they say that’s silly and live their life an entirely different way. People are afraid of making decisions on their own, I know I am. But I think if people took time to interpret the question –“what is the meaning of lifes meaning?” theyd be able to make their own perspective and some body else could take that as theirs.

Religious Perspectives on the MOL Final 2

The meaning of life is hard enough to understand on its own. So our class divided the MEANING OF LIFE into a few sub topics. Religion came up in discussion and we began researching different religions. I took Christianity into thought and when I did, I read about the views of Christianity and how it affects the meaning of life for those religious people. Then we talked to a Rabbi (Phil Rothman) from Brotherhood Synagogue and a Priest (Lawrence) from St. Stevens Cathedral about Judaism and Christianity.
When we went to Brotherhood (20th st. and 3rd) we met with Phil in the sanctuary. He told us about "Tikkun Olam" (תיקון עולם) which means "Repairing the World." That’s pretty much what Judaism is about, or at least according to Phil Rothman. He is a very bright loving and Jewish man, both husband and father. He has learned great respect for the religion he has grown up with and then accepted. I never knew Phil could lead a service, but sure enough, the next night (Shabbat) he was up on the Bema leading us in Prayer. He told us a story of a boy who was ready to commit suicide, but because a new neighbor was nice and introduced himself, the boy had decided to stay around a little while. I agree with Phil about how the "repairing the world" is a big part of Judaism and that most Jews go by that rule. I find that when there is someone in need in the Synagogue, the argument is not "who has to do it" it is "who gets to do it". Tikkun Olam is to repair the world, but there are so many different ways that any person can do. Jews believe everyone can and should participate to better them selves and others around them. A simple good deed to anyone will do just fine. The Rabbi said that it could be anywhere from allowing someone to rest their head on your shoulder to an extremely generous gift to an orphanage etc. Their views on life are fairly easy, they do not require anything, just ask of you to thank G-d for all that is good and help when you can.
When we talked with the priest about Catholicism, his views on life were set and nimble. He was able to tell off the top of his head about the religion and how it is meant to make life useful and meaningful. It is important to understand and consider Christ’s sacrifice, being with him in heart, loving the idea and respect, and unity to the closest thing to G-d. Life is not something that is meant to have meaning, the meaning must come from you and you make it worth it. The Christians want only that you admit to sinning and understand what and why it was wrong. Live off of one another, support each other and always remember Jesus died for our sins. As long as that is followed, they believe that the after life will be good and worth it. “Christianity is about personal relationships: with G-d and with others. When Jesus was asked to summarize his religion, he said that it was loving G-d and our neighbor. Everything else is a means to that end.” I do like this idea of everyone respecting each other and passing love on to each other. Have a relationship whether you will see them again or not. Its like people in the movies that are going to die, but they join forces with a stranger that comforts them.
Some times the Christian religion is a bit too much for some people, such as my self. “One of the most important terms for Christians is "fellowship". This term covers our life together as Christians. This means first of all that we spend time together, in worship, educational activities, service to others, and just having fun. In addition to their primary goal, these activities help us get to know each other, and to develop into a community. The Bible refers to the Christian community using organic metaphors, such as a vine and a body. It talks about us sharing with each other and supporting each other.” I feel like the worshiping and togetherness of the whole people is a little strange. Understandable but its just that they take it a much too serious for my liking.
“There are several kinds of prayer. One classification is by where they are done: public, family, and personal. All are important. In the page on worship I discuss prayers as part of worship. Jesus characterized the Jerusalem temple as a house of prayer. This shows the importance of prayer in worship. However Jesus also prayed with his disciples, and he often withdrew to a private place for personal prayer.” It is interesting how they still go in to different perspectives and points of views. I do like the idea of how they seem to believe that there is always a ‘higher force above everyone’. For instance where they say Jesus prayed… it seems as if there is some one above him and so on so forth. This is what I think their points, perspectives and thoughts on the Meaning of Life.
“In repentance, we evaluate our lives in light of G-d's standards, and take the necessary action. In different Christian traditions, there are somewhat different ways of doing this. For Catholics, the sacrament of penance (or in more modern language: reconciliation) provides a structured environment where a priest helps us review our actions and motiviations. For Protestants, repentance is often done in the context of private reflection and prayer, although many also use small groups or partners to help provide some structure.” It is interesting to see how this religion allows you to repent. To apologize and make it up to G-d.
Looking at the MEANING OF LIFE in religion is a lot easier than other topics, only because the religion is more or less the MEANING OF LIFE followed by a group of people. They have their belief and understand the requirements, if any, that the religion asks of them.

Artistic Persp. Final

The Meaning of life has been looked at in many different ways through out life. Whether it be through philosophy, through breaking it down and through religion. One main part of truly understanding the meaning of life and having a much better outlook on someone else's perspective is ART. Art comes in various forms, music, literature, media, and so many other pieces. It is a big and easy way of expressing oneself and their thoughts and beliefs on the meaning of life. Music is usually the most easy for understanding thoughts because the artist (musician) is more or less just blurting it out at you. The lyrics maybe sometimes a little confusing and not absolutely the meaning of life, but usually if you take time to read and try to interpret the meaning, you can see the MOL through the artisist's eyes. Artists want this! They want you to hear them (literally or not) and for you to understand their veiws. It is also visible in the media to see what a director or writer believes is the meaning of life. Maybe in a movie, on television, or even in video games. Artists show through the big screen or even through your small computer screen. A lot of people do not atually know and undestand what they are watching or considering could and probably is the directors meaning of life. Art is all around and misentrpreted. Which is ok sometimes, because the author, director, or cretor like tat sometimes. Maybe the perspective is that you should be confused and not fully understand the Point Of View.
Having to choose a movie that expresses a true meaning of life to me was not so easy. But when I truly thought of what movie would be a real good expample of someone's meaning of life, I came up with THE MATRIX. I truly believe that thi movie as well as the other two really show a confident and meaningful insightful arguement for their thought on the meaning of life. The movie takes place in the present, or atleast it makes you believe it is. After Neo, the protagonist, is filled in by Morpheus, his mentor and savior, about how his whole life is a computer program and that his real body is in the real world and he needs to WAKE UP. So morpheus wakes him and Neo winds up saving all of mankind from the stupid non-sensless robot generation. I think that the director really thought about how his whole life is written for him and that he should fight the system and experience all that he can and while doing that, save others and let them experience all of it too. Who knows, maybe thats how people find true love, Neo sure does.
The MATRIX is a good example of a very meaning of life oriented moveie both because its insightful, but it lets you interpret it for yourself. I really enjoyed it, and it truly helped me to understand differnt points on the meaning of life.
Another movie I think about is FIGHT CLUB, where the nararator NEVER gives his name. He finds a new friend who starts a cult, group, what ever uyou want to call it. But this friend trurns a little evil and leaves him in the dark. It take him until three quarters of the movie to realize that this friend, TYLER DURDEN is not a real person, he is the nararoter in the same body, but he is everything that Nar. cant be and wont be (consiously).
I feel liek the artist of this masterpiece doesnt know who he truly is and that it takes him a while to find something that he would like to be. People arre always trying to be something theyre not and becasue of it, they appear different, but still are that same old hag they used to be.
Every day people ty to hide behind new identities and its stuid because people should be happy with what they are, who they are, and what they do. I find in a lot of songs that they mention "I KNOW YOU BETTER THAN YOU KNOW YOURSELF". The artists of these songs must know people that have changed a lot since they first met and they are worried about them because they want them to be "real".
I find it sad, but alot of moveis, songs, and MOST CERTAINLY moives show this. A character that will do anything for people to respect them and think of them as they would want to. In a lot of songs they mention this, but in "BECOME WHAT YOU HATE" by MIDTOWN, they truly discuss how people (a friend in particular) change for no reason, or atleast not one true necessary reason. Midtown says they didnt think their friendship was a fraud, but now, he doesnt even know what it is. They see the WILL IN YOU and see that their friend has become everything they once hated. Its a sad story, but this person they talk of has had a tough time and is unabe to cope with it unless they change their norms to social norms.
They also go into how their future is going to go to crap and nothing good will come from this and that sooner or later, they will see that their new friends are the ones they used to make fun of!

In short, ART CAN APPEAR IN SO MANY WAYS, and its only how YOU interpret it, for it to make sense. An ART piece could be the true meaninig of life for some one, but for anoter person it could mean the opposite and the others will laugh at the "stupid idea" of the meaning of life. It is fun though to see how the AART perspecitves resemble ideas. Especially through songs because they just really TELL YOU THEIR THOUGHTS though lyrics and even the TUNE of their songs!
ART is a great, and maybe one of the best easiest, ways of resembling thoughts on the Meaning Of Life.

Artistic Pers. on the MOL first draft

It is a big and easy way of expressing oneself and their thoughts and beliefs on the MOL. Music is usually the most easy for understanding thoughts because the artist (musician) is more or less just blurting it out at you. The lyrics maybe sometimes a little confusing and not absolutely the MOL, but usually if you take time to read and try to interpret the meaning, you can see the MOL through the artisist's eyes. Artists want this! They want you to hear them (literally or not) and for you to understand their veiws. It is also visible in the media to see what a director or writer believes is the MOL. Maybe in a movie, on television, or even in video games. Artists show through the big screen or even through your small computer screen. A lot of people do not atually know and undestand what they are watching or considering could and probably is the directors MOL. Art is all around and misentrpreted. Which is ok sometimes, because the author, director, or cretor like tat sometimes. Maybe the perspective is that you should be confused and not fully understand the POV.

Religious Perspectives on the MOL Final

The meaning of life is hard enough to understand on its own. So our class divided the MOL into a few sub topics.
Looking at the MOL in religion is a lot easier than other topics, only because the religion is more or less the MOL followed by a group of people. They have their belief and understand the requirements, if any, that the religion asks of them.

WTHDTQEM( final Draft)

People have questioned the actual meaning of life for years and years. Yet, no one (known to man) has quite figured out the MOL. They do continue to try to interpret in completely different ways. Many have written essays, blogs, and even books concentrating on trying to understand the MOL.
Irving Singer sings(not really) about the MOL. People are afraid and they try to deny it, as well as what they think is the MOL.
The thing many people DO NOT UNDERSTAND, is that the people who don't know other people's MOL rely on them to live for their MOL. People need each other, whether they admit it or not, life revolves around everyone and without them, there is no MOL for anyone. Even someone half way around the world that you will never meet, might be vital to your MOL.
Wisdom likes to discuss contradiction within the MOL. The questions just keep pouring in and are never ending and unable to be answered.
There is much we can take from each of these men and it is up to the person to find their own, even if it is a little persuasive at parts by one another. None of these men have come to a full conclusion either and are still looking for the answer or at least something close to it.

OPP on MOL DRAFT (Final draft)

You know? When asked the meaning of life, a lot of people jump immediately to say "I dont know" or something like a joke. People dodge the question, and it seems a lot of people havent really thought about it. Possibly subconsciously they have, but not that they would just answer off the top of their heads. They are afraid! People dont want to answer because they dont know and a lot of people would like to keep it that way. So, to further my understanding of other people's persepctives on the MOL, I interviewed a few people.
But does that mean that they feel better than those who dont know? Is it better to stay kept in the dark, should you question?, or should you just not care?
Jennifer is a very happy self satisfying person who ALSO loves to bring everyone else into her fun. She enjoys life, its pretty obvious, and because she knows not so much off the top of her head, but still has an idea really says something.
In school, we had given out an interview and when asked "if you were to die right now would you be satisfied with the life you’ve lived?", most of the population of school said NO. Which is interesting to me because all of these kids laugh at the question, "what is the MOL?". A lot of people take for granted what they dont know. When they finally do take these things in to consideration, that is when a lot of people have enlightenments.
While I skimmed over other peoples blogs, I found this:"Less seniors said that they cared about finding happiness as opposed to other grades." and that really just hit me square in the head. I was just stunned that I ddint think of it previously, that as you grow older, you believe that you are wiser and know more, but there is way too much too know! People think knowing more and being able to "judge better" makes them happier. But isnt a child, who is accepting of anyone willing happier than the man who cant make friends because he doesnt like her hair, or his smile, or my laugh, or anything. you know?
